Copywriters’ process of creation copy
Every copywriter has their own process of creating a copywriting text. But, almost every one of them starts the process with Research.
I start that research by sending the client a questionnaire. In the meantime I go directly to the client and collect every possible advertising materials, spreadsheets, documents the client has for the product/service.
While I wait the answers from the questionnaire, I start reading all the materials I have taken and at the same time I do Internet research about the product/service. It is also important to do interviews with clients and with the business owners.
That helps me create a picture about the product, its features and benefits, and also a picture about the users that would buy the product, both demographic and psychological. It is very important to research the Targeted Audience, their needs and wants.
I search for the story behind the product/service, testimonials, experiences, results from using the product/service etc.
I try to get the offer, too.
After this initial research I differentiate the product from the competition and see what value it adds.
In the process of research, the most important part is categorization of the materials and their sorting. There are different classification methods, like AIDA. I separate them according to where I will be using them:
- Sub header
- First Paragraph
- Guaranties and Testimonials
- Results and data
- Benefits and Features
Next thing is writing the copy using AWAI‘s copywriting directions.
Once I write the copy I read it out loud and scan it to make sure it all flows nicely.
